LANSING, State Representative Mark Meadows (D-East Lansing) announced today the publication of two new tax related publications. The first is "How To Review and Appeal Your Property Tax Assessments."
"Every year, some residents are surprised to discover that their property has been reassessed. Questions often arise regarding the new valuation. I want to make sure that residents of the 69th District have the right information about how to best review their new assessment and to appeal, if necessary. I am providing a user friendly, two page brochure that easily answers questions regarding property tax assessments such as why the assessments change, what the changes mean, and how to appeal any changes that may be in error." The brochure is available at the East Lansing, Haslett, Okemos, and Williamston libraries; Meridian Township Hall; Williamstown Township Hall; and the East Lansing Hannah Community Center.
The second publication is the 2007 Tax Payers Guide. The guide explains Michigan taxes and tax credits and contains forms, a year long taxpayer's calendar of important dates and filing deadlines, and addresses and phone numbers for obtaining more information and assistance. The Tax Payers Guide is also available at the East Lansing, Haslett, Okemos, and Williamston libraries; Meridian Township Hall, Williamstown Township Hall; and the East Lansing Hannah Community Center.
