You may not realize this, but although we have an adult protection statute in the state of Michigan, it does not require employees of financial institutions to report any abuse that they may suspect, and it doesn't provide financial institution employees any protection when they do report financial abuse that they suspect. Our bills will, in fact, require the reporting of suspected financial abuse by bank employees, and also protect the employees and the institutions from nuisance lawsuits that might result from it.
