LANSING – State Representative Mark Meadows (D-East Lansing) will hold a town hall meeting on Monday, Sept. 21, in Okemos, to address the status of the state budget and its impact on residents.
"With so many state workers in the area, there are a number of families that are worried about the potential impact a government shutdown would have on them," Meadows said. "I want to make sure that people get their questions answered and have the information that they need. I encourage anyone who is unable to make my town hall to contact me with any questions or concerns."
The community event will be held on Monday, Sept. 21, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Board Room of the Okemos Schools Administration Building, 4406 N. Okemos Road.
Meadows will be joined at the event by Michigan State University professor Charles Ballard, who will give a presentation on Michigan's economic transformation and what lies ahead for the state. Following the presentation, a question-and-answer session will be held. The event is free and the public is encouraged to attend.
Residents who are unable to attend the town hall can contact Meadows via e-mail at MarkMeadows@house.mi.gov, or by phone at (517) 373-1786. Residents also can sign up for his e-newsletter, which contains community news and legislative updates of interest to residents, by visiting his Web site, meadows.housedems.com.
